Regaine Extra or Prescription Medication-Which is Better?

Propecia is the first  prescription medication available for stopping hair loss due to male pattern baldness. It is roughly as effective as Regaine and Regaine extra strength, an over-the-counter topical treatment for hair loss from male pattern baldness. Propecia has finasteride as its active ingredient, Regaine extra has minoxidil as its active ingredient. Regaine is effective for both slowing hair loss and regrowing hair, as is Propecia.

Regaine extra has side effects like an itchy scalp and flaking, like dandruff. These side effects are rare. Propecia also has rarely seen side effects but they are different in nature. Propecia possible side effects include impotence, lack of sexual desire, abnormal ejaculation and trouble having an orgasm. These side effects are very rare.

Regaine extra and Propecia are not the only two options for combating hair loss. There are hair transplants which involve taking hair from a place here it is thick and moving it to any area where there is hair loss. Scalp reduction involves removing a section of scalp where there is hair loss and stretching the remaining scalp over the head. Both of these are drastic options that are far more expensive than over-the-counter or prescription treatments.

It’s not an easy choice unless you have budgetary restraints that prohibit the surgical options. You coul just live with losing your hair, it probably doesn’t look nearly as bad as you imagine it does.
